    Supporting Transgender & Gender-Expansive Students
    Posted on 11/16/2018
Support Transgender and Gender-Expansive StudentsWe were moved by Superintendent Juneau’s recent letter standing in solidarity with LGBTQ students, staff, and families. After a recent U.S. Department of Health and Human Services memo revealing an effort to define gender "on a biological basis," we’d like to reaffirm our commitment to supporting transgender and gender-expansive students. This support includes, but is not limited to, a student’s right to be addressed by preferred pronouns and an inclusive restroom policy.

Please see Superintendent Juneau’s letter and Whittier’s resource page supporting LGBTQ students.

If your family is in need of support contact Whittier’s Principal Clark, our PTA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee; or Lisa Love Manager of Health Education at Seattle Public Schools.
