    Good Evening Whittier Families, 

    I hope you and your family had a fantastic weekend.  I am looking forward to the upcoming week.  

    I wanted to take a moment and share a few of the highlights.   This week your child will be taking home a star to decorate in honor of a friend or family member who has served our country in one of the military branches.  These stars will be featured in the hallway as we celebrate Veterans Day.  Please remember Veterans Day will be observed on Monday, November 12 - School will Not be in Session. 

    However, this week we are looking forward to the following. 

    • Monday, November 5th - Join me for a principal coffee from 8:00 to 8:30 in the library! 
      • Monday, November 5th - BLT Meeting in the Library at 2:50 PM
    • Tuesday, November 6th - 4th and 5th graders will be introduced to the Global Reading Challenge.  (I am excited to learn more about the challenge as well.) 
      • Tuesday, November 6th - Don't forget to vote!     
    • Wednesday - November 7th - Early Release - Staff will be working with Career Ladder teachers on important literacy professional development. 
    • Thursday - November 8th - Third Graders will be introduced to the Roald Dahl Challenge.  (Excited to learn more about it.) 
    • Friday - November 9th - Whittier Spirit Day - Mustache Day!  Just for fun! 

    Looking ahead..Save the Date 

    On Thursday, November 15: Please join me at 7PM in the cafeteria:  "Talking to Kids about Race and Equity" by Sharon Chang.

    On Friday, November 16th - Whittier will celebrate Veterans day with an Assembly and a performance from our K and 1st Graders at 1:15.  (More information to come.) 

    Please remember we will not be in school the week of November 19th - November 22nd: Please connect with your child's teacher if you have not scheduled your conference.
