    Dear Whittier Families,

I tried to send this last night - sorry it didn't get out!

Seattle School District has called for an early release Friday due to the chance of large accumulations of snow.  Students will be released to the buses and parents at 1:10.  All school events, field trips, after school activities and after school care has been cancelled Friday afternoon.  Please work with your support team to make sure that your child is picked up or supervised and supported after school.

Families - we have some kids in need of boots, gloves and hates.  If you have any extra swing them by the office.

We had a short but GREAT week at Whittier.

    • Eighty-Five of our fourth and fifth graders completed the Global Reading Challenge in the Library.  They did amazing!!!  Thank you Ms. Newcomb!
    • Second Graders Celebrated Chinese New Year!
    • We welcomed and introduced new families to the Whittier Way!
    • Students learned about the rhythm and dance form Gansango - Thank you Ms. Steph!
    • Ms. Lemming's class was awarded the "Golden Spatula Award" for their work in the cafeteria.
    • Wildcats are learning about strikes and spares with Mr. Pule's Bowling Unit.
    • Check out our amazing "Black Lives Matter" artwork in the foyer - Thank you Mr. Buck!

Are you returning to Whittier Next Year?  We hope so!

We are already working and planning for the next school year.  Your child should have received a goldenrod handout about your intent for next year. In the next month the building leadership team will be working on staffing our building for the upcoming year.  Please take a moment to share information about your intent for next year.

Thanks for all you do and I am hoping for a full week of school and learning next week.
