    Hello Whittier Families, 

    I hope you enjoyed your day off.   We hope our focus on Dr. King and empathy has provided opportunities for your family to engage in these very important topics and themes. In February, Whittier will focus on LOVE and honesty.   

    Looking forward to the following events! 

    Friday, February 1st -  Assembly 1:15:  Gansango dance company is coming to perform for Whittier.  Gansago Music and Dance presents traditional and contemporary dance and music from West Africa. We are excited for our school wide assembly and their follow up workshops in Ms. Steph's class next week. This opportunity is paid for by our PTA.  Thank you community for providing us with all of these rich opportunities.

    Friday is also ROCK STAR Day...Help your child dress as their or your favorite rock star.  Or they can where a rock tee shirt or dress as a rock.  It is a day to celebrate!  Don't worry! 

    Monday February 4th 

    • Principal Coffee @ 8:00 AM in the Library!  Topics: STEM Fair:  Intro to Focus Math Standards and Acceleration Opportunities and future work,  Jason Sciarrone will join us to share the Seattle School's Black Lives Matter curriculum.  
    • Interested students, staff, and families will be wearing either black or a Black Lives Matter T-Shirts to demonstrate our commitment to SPS Race and Equity Goals. 
    • Gansango Residency Workshop in Performing Arts

    • 5th Grade Students - Field Trip to the State Capital in Olympia

    Believe it or not - we have completed half of the school year.  I am so looking forward to Whittier in the spring!   Always looking for parents to assist in supervising lunch and lunch recess.
