    Hello Whittier Students and Families!

I hope everyone enjoyed some time off.  I've missed you!  I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

This April, the Whittier teachers, students and staff are emphasizing and celebrating inclusion.  At Whittier we want everyone to feel welcomed, valued, respected and included.  I am challenging students, staff and families to make another person feel more included during morning drop off, in class, at lunch, recess and after school.  I hope we can all take a moment to do one random act of kindness a day that will make others feel more valued.

April is also a time to celebrate and protect our earth.  I challenge you and your family to get outside, plant a garden, and try to reduce plastic waste at lunch.

    • During April - Mr. Pule is encouraging everyone to get our of their cars and ride their bikes.  Don't forget Pule's bike unit starts on Monday.
    • Whittier Kindergarten students are learning about the effects of ground water pollution and labeling Whittier's storm drains.
    • Whittier first graders are spending time in the arboretum to learn about the native plants and habitats of the northwest.
    • Whittier fifth graders are releasing Salmon into the natural habitat at Carkeek Park.
    • Lastly, Wildcat fifth graders are learning about the environment during a three day outdoor learning experience the first of May.

I am looking forward to a spring adventure with the Whittier Wildcats.

    See you in the morning!
